Sinks Canyon National Forest Campground near Lander Wyoming

We really took a chance on this campground but all turn out well even though the camp's water line was broken. We were warned of rattlesnakes before we could open the car door. The camp host warned, "You can't hear them…they don't rattle before they strike". I said, "For god's sake don't tell my wife that. We'll have to leave."

The road dead-ends in Sinks Canyon named because the Popo Agie River simply disappears underground and pops up about a quarter mile later. It's weird. During our stay it was over 90 degrees during the day but cool at night. The canyon was steep and very rocky ergo the snakes. Helen did not wander beyond the camper's canopy. The river was so loud we kept hollering "What? What did you say?" In the night the Popo Agie roared beside our camper and the snakes… didn't rattle.
